New Ruling regarding New Hampshire NEC Code Update Completion Requirements.

Starting with the 2026 NEC Code Update all licensed NH Electricians will be required to complete the Code Update in the same year that it was published.   

319-C:6-c Continuing Education, NFPA 70 Changes. – The board shall adopt rules relative to continuing education applicable to all licensees for training and compliance with the latest published edition of the NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, as published by the National Fire Protection Association. Each licensee shall show proof of completion of continuing education requirements adopted under this section within 12 months from the January 1 following the publication date of the latest version of the NFPA 70. Proof of completion shall be furnished to the office by the continuing education provider. Failure to complete the continuing education shall render the electrician’s license invalid until the licensee demonstrates to the board that he or she has completed the requisite number of continuing education hours.

2023 Code Update:

For all Journeyman and Master Licensees: Every Code Cycle you will need to show proof of 15 hours of instruction on the changes to the latest published edition of NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code. At least 1 hour of the 15 total must include instruction in changes to RSA 319-C, the administrative rules, and installation concerns for electrical installations, as determined by the board and available on the board’s website under the heading “licensing and installation concerns.” Certificates of Completion may be provided to the OPLC by the Course Provider or the Licensee.

To renew your NH electrical license for the 2023 NEC Code Update, you must create a CE Broker account, which you use for the next 2026 NEC Code Update renewal.  Once you create your CE Broker account, you can close CE Broker and return to the OPLC renewal portal for this cycle.
